The Medical Director of Mental Health Services will oversee all mental health services across CCI health centers, including integrated behavioral health programming, psychiatric services, and psychology services. This role is critical for ensuring high standards of care, promoting collaboration among mental health professionals, and enhancing patient outcomes.
Schedule: 60% Clinical, 40% Administrative
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership in Mental Health Services
Direct all mental health services at CCI, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
Oversee integrated behavioral health programming to provide holistic care that addresses both physical and mental health needs.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement program policies, protocols, and procedures in alignment with state regulations, best practices, and CCI standards of care.
Ensure services are culturally competent, accessible, and responsive to the needs of the community, particularly our most underserved populations, including those of refugee/asylee status, sexual and gender minorities and those living with substance use disorders.
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists, clinical social workers and other mental health professionals.
Clinical Oversight
Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, best practices, and regulatory requirements for mental health services.
Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to staff, providing guidance on complex cases and maintaining high standards of care.
Perform probationary, annual, and quarterly peer reviews, including chart reviews for clinicians.
Ensure desktop coverage is aligned with CCI policies and standards.
Program Development and Implementation
Develop and implement evidence-based mental health programs and interventions that address the needs of diverse patient populations.
Collaborate with clinical leadership to ensure the integration of mental health services into primary care, enhancing access and continuity of care for patients including but not limited to telehealth services, warm handoffs, and daily huddles with care teams.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mental health services, making data-driven decisions to improve programming.
Collaboration and Advocacy
Collaborate with community organizations, public health agencies, and other stakeholders to promote mental health awareness and access to care.
Advocate for policies and practices that support mental health services and address social determinants of health impacting mental well-being
Data Analysis and Reporting
Utilize data analytics to monitor clinical performance, identify trends, and implement quality improvement initiatives within the mental health department.
Ensure compliance with quality requirements set by funders and accreditation bodies, maintaining accurate documentation and reporting
Financial Management
Partner with the fiscal department to help manage the budget for Infectious Disease and Immigrant Health services, ensuring efficient use of resources, financial performance, and strategies to achieve financial sustainability.
Lead grant funding and research opportunities to expand services as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
MD/DO/NP or PhD/PsyD in Psychology from an accredited program.
Licensure in the state of Maryland (active medical or psychology license).
Minimum of five years of experience in mental health services, with a focus on leadership and program development.
Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing multidisciplinary teams.
Strong understanding of integrated behavioral health models and evidence-based practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong diagnostic, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
High level of customer service focus.
Knowledge of current technological trends in healthcare, particularly in mental health
